Keeping your wits about you

Design requires intelligence, empathy, intuition, imagination and wit.

So why does a good designer need wit? Apart from being much more fun to work with, having wit at your creative disposal offers far more possibilities in reaching audiences and results in visual communications being more engaging, more memorable and therefore inherently more efficient and effective – both of which are paramount concerns in business this century.

Wit, by definition describes an ingenious mind, resourceful with a natural ability to perceive and understand things. Also, quick, keen, and able to make unusual connections (that retrospectively seem so obvious and yet were overlooked). In my opinion, these are ALL assets in the development and growth of a business and it’s relationship with its audience.

How else can a business thrive today, if not upon its wits?
